The World can only Change from Within! - Eckhart Tolle Wake Up Sydney!

Friday Meditation Circle.

Sit, breath & relax. 7 - 8:30pm

Welcome to our meditation circle dedicated to kindness, courage and inner well-being. We have no set agendas, affiliations or proposed beliefs. Just one guiding principle – when you change within, the world changes. Join us for an evening of sitting meditation and meaningful sharing – followed by tea and a chat with like-minded friends. Come along, relax in the present moment, explore fresh perspectives and nourish your inner life. We reckon there’s no better way to kick start your weekend! No experience required.

We can only fit 30, so be sure to BOOK.

Here's a quick intro:

Our View. Everybody's talking about technology as the key to bringing about social change. It’s either twitter, facebook or the i-phone. We think one of the most powerful, yet neglected technologies is sitting silently in a circle together - learning how to relax, be present and tap into the flow of life. We reckon there's no better way to do this than with the support of like-minded friends. Practice, practice and being present will become natural. This kind of technology has the potential to transform the world.

Our Meditation. We practice sitting mindfulness meditation. It's  the ordinary practice of coming back to the present moment via the breath, the body and the senses. Through this practice, we learn to live in the present moment instead of in the past and in the future. It’s through this practice that our natural brilliance and wisdom manifest.

For first-timers, here are some products on meditation may be helpful.

Our Studio. We've chosen a space that feels great to be in. The Lifepod in Paddington used to be an old Hay Barn and offers a unique atmosphere -it's warm, nourishing & intimate. When you step into our candle lit space you’ll easily feel the body and mind relax and unwind. Come and enjoy your experience!

Our Approach.  Many folks come to meditation and think “It’s cool that some people meditate. They seem awake and together. I can’t do it. I tried it once before and I was bad at it. My mind is too speedy, too messed up, too crazy, too [insert self-loathing statement here] to meditate.” Nothing could be further from the truth. Mindfulness meditation is about seeing your mind as it is. It’s about befriending your thinking and emotions. All you have to do is bring yourself exactly as you are with a pinch of patience and curiosity.

3 Meditation Tips.
  1. Be friendly with yourself. It’s normal to find your attention wandering. Be friendly. Simply guide your mind back to your point of attention. Over time, your attention will remain more focused for longer periods of time.
  1. Be realistic. Don’t expect to meditate easily. Take it slow and take the pressure off yourself. We recommend 10 minutes in the morning and evening.
  2. Enjoy & have fun. A light heart goes a long way.

What do bring. If you have a meditation cushion that would be great. Otherwise, there will be chairs and bolsters available. Wear comfortable clothing.

Eating. We finish around 8:30pm, so we recommend you eat beforehand. The studio is moments away from lovely cafes, parks, pubs on Oxford St or in Woollahra. Feel free to bring some friends and go out afterwards.

More Resources: One of the leading scientists promoting living with mindfulness is Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn. If you're interested, watch a talk he gave at google.

“Everybody can create change because you have yourself. That’s the biggest thing that anybody could have. If you can change yourself, that will change the world."
